Niger’s Minister of Public Service, Labour and Employment Learns About Algeria’s Experience in Labour, Employment and Social Security

On the second day of the working visit to Algeria by the Minister of Public Service, Labour and Employment of the Republic of Niger, Ms. Aïssatou Abdoulaye Tondi, as part of a Nigerien ministerial delegation visiting Algeria on 23 and 24 June 2026 to follow up on the outcomes of the second session of the Joint Grand Commission and advance the process of bilateral consultation and coordination, the programme of the Nigerien delegation continued on Wednesday, 24 June 2026, at the Ben Aknoun Family Centre.
This stage of the visit focused on presenting Algeria’s experience in the fields of labour, employment and social security, as well as the tangible results achieved in expanding social coverage, modernising services and improving mechanisms for supporting socially insured persons and their eligible dependants. The presentation was delivered through a series of technical briefings by senior officials of the Ministry.
The visit also provided the Nigerien delegation with an opportunity to learn about the missions and organisation of the Labour Inspectorate, as well as the central role it plays in ensuring the implementation of legislation governing labour relations, promoting social dialogue and improving working conditions. The delegation was also briefed on the Inspectorate’s contribution to preventing labour disputes and strengthening stability within enterprises, as well as its role in supporting occupational health and safety measures in workplaces.
The programme concluded with a visit to the “Chifa” Electronic Card Personalisation Centre, where the Nigerien delegation received a detailed presentation on the development of the “Chifa” system since its launch in 2007 and its role in digitalising social security services and simplifying administrative procedures for the benefit of more than 19 million socially insured persons and their eligible dependants.
It should be noted that this visit reflects the depth of the fraternal and historic relations between Algeria and the Republic of Niger and embodies the shared commitment of the leaders of the two countries to strengthening and developing bilateral cooperation in a manner that serves the common interests of the two brotherly peoples and reinforces the bonds of solidarity and integration between them.
The occasion also reaffirms the two countries’ commitment to further developing cooperation and exchanging successful experiences in various relevant fields, thereby contributing to efforts to promote social and economic development and consolidate the values of solidarity and joint African cooperation.
